On Sunday night at about 10.30pm the moon turned orange and fell out of the sky and disappeared behind some trees.

Like all other celestial bodies, the moon rises and sets because of the Earth's rotation or spin. (Yes purists, for simplicity let's ignore circumpolarity for the time being.)
But the moon also circles the Earth once a month, meaning each night it has moved around the Earth some distance. That's why it's in a different part of the sky at the same time each day, unlike the stars which only change slightly from day to day. That's also why it isn't up only at night. Sometimes the moon is on the side of the Earth that's in daylight.
At this time, the moon is on the daylit side of Earth, meaning it sets shortly after the sun. It's going further around night by night, so today it will rise slightly later, and it will set later. Tomorrow, later again. In about 10 days, the moon will be directly above the night side of Earth, the side away from the sun. It will then rise around sunset and set around sunrise. Then it will continue to rise later each night and set later in the day, until it's back on the sun side. It then continues.
